ASNT Continuing Education Program

Mission and Objectives of the Continuing Education Program

The mission of ASNT is to create a safer world by promoting the profession and technologies of nondestructive testing. In support of this mission, ASNT supports high-quality learning activities to respond to the educational needs of nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals.

The major objectives of the ASNT Continuing Education Programs are: (1) to identify, endorse, facilitate, provide and approve high-quality learning events to respond to the needs of nondestructive testing (NDT) professionals (2) to encourage continuing education in NDT and related technology; (3) to establish permanent records for individual participants for accumulating, updating, and transferring information concerning noncredit continuing education experiences; (4) to maintain the standards of excellence that allow ASNT to be an Approved Provider by the International Association for Education and Training (IACET).

History of ASNT Continuing Education Program and Awarding Continuing Education Units (CEU)

In July 1977, ASNT adopted a plan whereby CEUs could be awarded through ASNT for educational and training programs involving NDT. ASNT is accredited by and follows the standard established by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET).

Definition of CEU

The Continuing Education Unit (CEU) has been designed as a uniform unit of measurement to facilitate the accumulation and exchange of standardized information about individual participation in noncredit continuing education. The CEU is intended to serve all interests, whether public or private, and whether individual, institutional, organizational, governmental or societal.
