NRC Requests Comments on NUREG-1556, Vol. 2


The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission requests comments on NUREG-1556, Vol. 2, Rev. 1, “Consolidated Guidance About Materials Licenses: Program-Specific Guidance About Industrial Radiography Licenses." Notice of the draft revision and call for comments has been published in the 21 November 2011 Federal Register. The document is available on the NRC website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/nuregs/staff/sr1556/v2/sr1556v2r1.html and can be downloaded directly at http://pbadupws.nrc.gov/docs/ML1131/ML11312A123.pdf. Comments should be submitted by 13 January 2012 in accordance with the directions noted in the draft document.

The document has been updated to include safety culture, security of radioactive materials, protection of sensitive information, an appendix on lay-barges and offshore radiography, and incorporated changes in regulatory policies and practices.
